TYPES OF TOURISM: CÁC LOẠI HÌNH DU LỊCH
Hãy cùng GLEN Education tìm hiểu về các loại hình du lịch phổ biến hiện nay để hiểu hơn về từng loại nhé!
1. Mass tourism
- Mass tourism /ˌmæs ˈtʊərɪzəm/ (n): du lịch đại chúng
- Overtourism /ˌəʊvəˈtʊərɪzəm/ (n): du lịch quá tải
- Tourismophobia /ˌtʊərɪzəmˈfəʊbiə/ (n): sự ác cảm hoặc phản đối du lịch/quá nhiều khách du lịch
a) Mass tourism drawbacks
- Pollution: ô nhiễm
Not only in crowded cities like Rome, Amsterdam and Barcelona do tourists cause pollution on the streets. Popular natural areas also suffer from pollution. Maya Beach in Thailand - known from the movie The Beach - was previously closed down because of excessive litter. Even on Mount Everest, you trip over the trash at the end of the climbing season. And cruise ships are also hugely polluting.
- Unequal economic distribution: phân phối kinh tế không đồng đều
The people who suffer from mass tourism - the locals - are usually not the ones who reap the economic benefits. In fact, the big money goes to hotel owners, cruise ship companies, airlines and restaurant owners.
- Nuisance and degradation: sự phiền toái và xuống cấp
Crowds create nuisances for residents. Petty crime increases and the place deteriorates. Think vulgar attractions, eating joints, pub crawls, beer bikes and party boats, while authentic stores and restaurants are driven out by hotel chains, chain stores and yet another waffle store.
- Oppression in the housing market: áp lực/bất công trên thị trường nhà ở
Because renting out homes to tourists - through Airbnb, for example - is so profitable, more and more homes (legal or illegal) are being converted into vacation rentals. This drives up housing prices and fosters housing shortages.
- Eosion of local culture: sự mai một văn hóa địa phương
A risk of mass tourism is that local culture becomes commercialized. Authenticity of traditions is lost. Instead, versions that tourists want to see are staged in order to make money.
- Unsafe situations: những tình huống không an toàn
In Bali, the many tourists on scooters create unsafe situations. Rental is even restricted there, according to the AD. And in Nepal, travelers are now only allowed to do trekking tours with a guide or in groups, because too often they get into trouble and require rescue.
- Damage to nature: tổn hại đến thiên nhiên
Increasingly, pieces of green space near popular natural areas must give way to hotels, resorts, roads and other tourist infrastructure. Also, (mass) tourism in natural areas can damage ecosystems. Consider the columns of safari jeeps that tear through the Kruger Park when a leopard or pride of lions has been spotted.
- Economic dependence: sự phụ thuộc kinh tế
There are many examples of places that are too economically dependent on tourism. If something happens, it can put a big dent in the population's income, for example, for people working in hotels or restaurants. Think war, refugee influx (as in the Greek islands) or the outbreak of an infectious disease. You see. There are huge drawbacks to mass tourism. Plenty of reasons to choose an alternative.
b) Mass tourism management
- Set arrival caps: đặt giới hạn số lượng khách đến
- Divert massive cruise liners: chuyển hướng các tàu du lịch cỡ lớn
- Introduce littering fines: áp dụng tiền phạt xả rác
- Set regulations on Airbnb: đặt ra quy định đối với Airbnb
- Encourage the use of environmentally friendly products: khuyến khích sử dụng các sản phẩm thân thiện với môi trường
2. Eco tourism
- Eco tourism /ˈiːkəʊ ˈtʊərɪzəm/ (n): du lịch sinh thái
- Environmental protection /ɪnˌvaɪrənˈmentl prəˈtekʃn/ (n phr): bảo vệ môi trường
- Sustainable tourism /səˈsteɪnəbl ˈtʊərɪzəm/ (n phr): du lịch bền vững
- Wildlife conservation /ˈwaɪldlaɪf ˌkɒnsəˈveɪʃn/ (n phr): bảo tồn động vật hoang dã
a) Eco-tourism drawbacks
- Environmental damage: thiệt hại/tổn hại môi trường
Although eco-tourism aims to protect nature, too many visitors can still harm the environment. Hiking trails may erode, wildlife can be disturbed, and tourists sometimes leave litter behind. Fragile ecosystems such as coral reefs and rainforests are especially vulnerable to human activities.
- Economic dependence: sự phụ thuộc kinh tế
Some local communities rely heavily on eco-tourism for income. If natural disasters, pandemics, or political instability reduce tourist numbers, many people may lose their jobs and businesses can suffer financially.
- Cultural disruption: sự xáo trộn văn hóa
The arrival of large numbers of tourists may change local traditions and lifestyles. In some places, local culture is commercialized to entertain visitors, causing communities to lose their authenticity and cultural identity.
b) Eco-tourism management
- Limit the number of visitors: giới hạn khách du lịch
- Protect wildlife and natural habitats: bảo vệ động vật và môi trường sống
- Promote waste reduction and recycling: giảm rác thải, tái chế
- Support local communities and businesses: hỗ trợ cộng đồng địa phương
- Encourage the use of eco-friendly transportation: khuyến khích giao thông xanh
3. Alternative tourism
- Alternative tourism /ɔːlˈtɜːnətɪv ˈtʊərɪzəm/ (n): du lịch thay thế
- Authentic experiences /ɔːˈθentɪk ɪkˈspɪəriənsɪz/ (n phr): trải nghiệm chân thực
- Sustainable travel /səˈsteɪnəbl ˈtrævl/ (n phr): du lịch bền vững
a) Alternative tourism drawbacks
- Limited infrastructure: cơ sở hạ tầng hạn chế
- Economic instability: sự bất ổn kinh tế
Because alternative tourism usually attracts smaller numbers of visitors, local businesses may not earn stable or sufficient income throughout the year.
- Environmental pressure: áp lực môi trường
Although it is more sustainable than mass tourism, uncontrolled growth in alternative tourism can still damage natural areas and local communities if not properly managed.
b) Alternative tourism management
- Promote responsible travel behavior: khuyến khích du lịch có trách nhiệm
- Limit tourist activities in sensitive areas: hạn chế hoạt động du lịch ở khu vực nhạy cảm
- Support local culture and traditions: hỗ trợ văn hóa và truyền thống địa phương
- Improve sustainable infrastructure: cải thiện cơ sở hạ tầng bền vững
- Educate tourists about environmental protection: nâng cao ý thức bảo vệ môi trường cho du khách
4. Dark tourism
- Dark tourism /dɑːk ˈtʊərɪzəm/ (n): du lịch đen (du lịch đến các nơi gắn với bi kịch, cái chết)
- Historical tragedies /hɪˈstɒrɪkl ˈtrædʒədiz/ (n phr): những thảm kịch lịch sử
- Disaster sites /dɪˈzɑːstə saɪts/ (n phr): địa điểm thảm họa
a) Dark tourism drawbacks
- Ethical concerns: những lo ngại về đạo đức
Visiting places connected with death, disasters, or human suffering may be considered disrespectful, especially when tourists treat these sites as entertainment or take inappropriate photos.
- Emotional impact: tác động cảm xúc
Some dark tourism destinations, such as war memorials or genocide museums, can cause sadness, fear, or emotional distress for visitors and local communities.
- Commercialization of tragedy: sự thương mại hóa bi kịch
In some cases, businesses may exploit tragic events for profit by selling souvenirs or creating entertainment activities that reduce the seriousness of historical suffering.
b) Dark tourism management
- Promote respectful tourist behavior: khuyến khích hành vi du lịch tôn trọng
- Preserve historical accuracy: bảo tồn tính chính xác lịch sử
- Limit commercial exploitation: hạn chế khai thác thương mại
- Educate visitors about historical events: giáo dục du khách về sự kiện lịch sử
- Protect memorial and heritage sites: bảo vệ địa điểm tưởng niệm và di sản
5. Volunteerism
- Volunteerism /ˌvɒlənˈtɪərɪzəm/ (n): hoạt động tình nguyện
- Community support /kəˈmjuːnəti səˈpɔːt/ (n phr): hỗ trợ cộng đồng
- Cultural exchange /ˈkʌltʃərəl ɪksˈtʃeɪndʒ/ (n phr): giao lưu văn hóa
a) Volunteerism drawbacks
- Lack of professional skills: thiếu kỹ năng chuyên môn
Some volunteers may not have the necessary training or experience to help effectively. In certain cases, unskilled volunteers can create more problems for local communities.
- Short-term impact: tác động ngắn hạn
Many volunteer programs last only a short time, so their benefits may not be sustainable. Communities can become dependent on temporary support instead of long-term development.
- Cultural misunderstanding: sự hiểu lầm văn hóa
Differences in language, customs, and lifestyles may lead to misunderstandings between volunteers and local people, sometimes causing offense or ineffective cooperation.
b) Volunteerism management
- Lack of professional skills: thiếu kỹ năng chuyên môn
- Short-term impact: tác động ngắn hạn
- Cultural misunderstanding: sự hiểu lầm văn hóa
- Provide proper volunteer training: cung cấp đào tạo phù hợp cho tình nguyện viên
- Support long-term community projects: hỗ trợ các dự án cộng đồng dài hạn
- Encourage cultural awareness and respect: khuyến khích nhận thức và tôn trọng văn hóa
- Cooperate with local organizations: hợp tác với các tổ chức địa phương
- Monitor the effectiveness of volunteer programs: theo dõi hiệu quả của các chương trình tình nguyện
